ABOUT THE SSgt JASON HICKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The seventh annual Scholarship was awarded May 28, 2009 to Candice Griffin (pictured above) of Pageland, SC. Candice will be starting her college career at The University of South Carolina - Lancaster. She plans to earn her degree in Science and continue her education in Physical Therapy. Her goal is to work in a rehabilitation center helping others to enhance their ability to perform despite their disabilities. Congratulations Candice! We look forward to following your success both in college and in your following professional career.

The Scholarship Fund was started after Jason's death to honor his memory. We are very proud of Jason, his life accomplishments and the work he did. He truly died an American hero, protecting his Country and Her citizens.
The Scholarship is awarded annually in Jason's name to a graduating senior from Central High School in Pageland, South Carolina, Jason's alma mater. Any Central High School graduating senior may apply for the Scholarship. Special consideration will be given to students enrolled in the ROTC program, Central High Athletic programs or students who wish to pursue a military career after college graduation. Applicants should also demonstrate leadership abilities and community service.
